An application for applications?

The University of Denver just released our new iPhone application and an application for Android is in the works. The DU application is designed to help students and community members stay up to date on news and events at DU. I’d like to know if you, the potential students of the Josef Korbel School are interested in accessing more information about the program via your smart phone. I’ll be honest, I’m addicted to my Droid, but I still can’t imagine researching graduate school information via my phone. Then again, it is not my opinion that matters; it’s yours, so let us know. Would you like the Josef Korbel School to make more information, such as our website, accessible via mobile phone technology? Let us know by commenting or emailing me.

Fall 2011 application now live!

Ah yes, the admissions cycle begins as we enter the 2010-11 academic year. As we prepare to welcome approximately 200 incoming students in September, we also prepare to hit the road to met potential fall 2011 students. Our recruitment schedule is set and can be viewed by clicking here. Please check back often as event times/locations are subject to change. One of the BEST parts of working in the admissions office is meeting tons of prospective students on the road and then seeing them here in September when they join us for their graduate degree! Well ok, earning all those frequent flyer miles isn’t so bad either. This year we will be in the main U.S. cities – San Fran, DC, NY, LA, Chicago, Minneapolis and of course here in Denver. A trip to Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok are also on the agenda. To register for any or all events (if you love frequent flyer miles as much as us), visit either the Association of Professional Schools in International Affairs (APSIA) website or the Idealist.org website.

We are also holding a fall open house event here at the Josef Korbel School on Thursday, November 11th from 4:00-6:00pm. This is a terrific opportunity to learn more about our programs, admissions requirements and have your questions answered by faculty, current students and our friendly admissions staff. To register for this event, please email korbeadm@du.edu and let us know that you want to come to our open house. Please indicate which degree(s) you are interested in. A proper registration form will be available next week but for now, this is the best way to register.

As the header mentions…THE FALL 2011 APPLICATION IS NOW AVAILABLE. Start gathering your supplemental materials, sign up to take the GREs (expect a 3-5 week processing time once you take the exam) and contact us if you have any questions and/or would like to set up a visit to our school. Definitely check out our virtual tour of the University of Denver (DU) campus by clicking here. DISCLAIMER: this interactive tour does target undergraduate students BUT you will get a good glimpse of campus scenery. Keep in mind too that there are MORE graduate students on our campus than undergrads (total: 11,500, ~6000 grad students and ~5,500 undergrad students).

We look forward to a successful fall quarter filled with a tremendous incoming student cohort and another record-breaking year of applications.

2011 Application Information

Greetings from the Josef Korbel School!

As one year of applications wraps up, another begins.  The application for the autumn 2011 quarter will be available on our website in August and the priority submission deadline will be January 15th. Application checklists can be found on our website so please take a look so you can plan accordingly. If you have yet to take the GREs, keep in mind that it takes approximately 4-6 weeks for ETS to process your scores and then send them to the University of Denver (if you requested this). Please note that we are not offering admission to the winter 2011 term, so we are only accepting applications for autumn 2011 (hint: apply early).

We are in the process of solidifying our autumn 2011 recruitment schedule so be on the look out to see if/when we will be in your city!

Please don’t hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions. Also, the summer is a great time to plan a trip to Denver, hike in the amazing Rocky Mountains and of course, visit our friendly staff here at Korbel to learn more about our school and programs.
