Ellen is from Oklahoma via Nashville and Washington, D.C. She is a first year in our International Security program with a concentration in Homeland Security. Prior to starting at Korbel a couple weeks ago, Ellen was a financial analyst at a private equity firm in D.C., and before that she received her BA in Political Science and Communication Studies from Vanderbilt University.
Ellen chose Korbel, because “I really like the flexibility to take classes on a variety of topics and get an interdisciplinary perspective on security issues. Also, mountains!”
When she is not studying, Ellen can be found hiking with her dog, eating breakfast / brunch and baked goods. She’s dedicated to finding sweet potato pancakes as good as the ones she discovered in Nashville. Her non-academic goals for this year include hiking several 14-ers and advancing to a new belt in krav maga.
Fun Fact: Ellen fostered 10 dogs while living in D.C. (not at the same time!) and loves volunteering with dog and horse rescues.
