You have 6 Seconds…

Yup, six seconds is all the time your resume gets when (if) it lands in the hands of employers. Don’t worry, I’ll commit to giving your resume much more than six seconds, but the tips in this video are spot on:

  1. Keep a visual hierarchy
  2. Make your resume clear and concise
  3. Avoid pictures

My pet peeves with resumes?

  1. Pictures and graphs. Ok, so I’ve never actually seen a graph on a resume, but if I ever do, I will make an example out of that resume, so don’t do it. Same goes with pictures.
  2. Little work experience, lots of pages.
  3. Typos. Dude, you spelled the name of your school wrong? Ouch.
