Debbi Avant will be joining us as the Sie Chair and Director of the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy. She will hold the rank of Professor with tenure. She comes to us from the University of California at Irvine where she was a Professor and Director of International Studies and the Center for Research on International and Global Studies. Previously she taught at George Washington University and was the Director of the Institute for Global and International Studies at the Elliot School of International Affairs. Debbi has published several books, most recently Who Governs the Globe? (Cambridge University Press, 2010) and numerous articles on security and military issues. She serves on the editorial board for the International Studies Quarterly and the American Political Science Review and conducts reviews for a number of international political studies journals.
Chen Reis will be joining us as Clinical Associate Professor and Director of our Humanitarian Assistance program. She has most recently served as the Technical Officer for the Health Action in Crises (HAC) sector of the World Health Organization with prior positions as the Program Officer for the Gender, Women and Health program and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI). Chen has published numerous articles relating to sexual and reproductive health regarding women and children’s rights. She has also contributed to several books and reports for the UN and WHO.
Fidel Santos will be joining us as a one-year Lecturer in International Development and will be teaching Participatory Planning & Decision Support Systems and Social & Environmental Impact Assessment
He is a PhD candidate in Environmental Design and Planning at the University of Colorado at Denver.
Joel Pruce will be joining us as a one-year Lecturer in International Human Rights.
He is completing his PhD in our own program.
Lindsay Heger will be joining us as a one-year Lecturer in Security and will be teaching International Politics, Globalization and Security, Development, Democracy and Security. She completed her PhD at the University of California at San Diego.
