“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…”
— Dr. Seuss (Oh, the Places You’ll Go!)
One of my favorite things about my job (other than meeting with fabulous students) are the places it takes me. In my five years at the Josef Korbel School, I’ve met students and advisors in over 15 countries – from Czech Republic to the UAE, Ecuador to Japan. Good thing I love long flights and have a healthy immune system!
This is the time of the year when we begin planning our fall recruitment travel based on where the Associate of Professional Schools in International Affairs (APSIA) Graduate School Forums and Idealist.org Grad School Fairs are held. While we’ve cut back on our international travel, thanks to the powerful connections made through social media, we have a solid line up of locations for the 2011 recruitment season.
Check out our fall 2011 recruitment calendar
In addition to attending these recruitment fairs, we are also holding Korbel coffee twaks in these cities (with the exception of Minneapolis), which will provide a more in-depth opportunity to have a leisurely discussion with 5-10 fellow prospective students about our programs. Have a coffee shop recommendation? Let us know – email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will try to make it happen.
Our hair is a bit more tame these days.
Speaking of travels, I will be flying the friendly skies later today en route to Tanzania/Zanzibar! No, not a recruitment trip, a honeymoon but I did pack a few Josef Korbel School brochures 🙂
I will resume regular Thursday posts on July 28th – chock full of safari photos.
Hope to see you on the road this fall!
