Josef Korbel School Merit Scholarships

I’ve received several emails notifying me that prospective students can no longer find our merit scholarship information.  As some of you may remember, we used to post the GRE and GPA requirements that made one eligible for a merit scholarship ranging from $10,000 to $15,000.  Because the GRE test is changing its format, we are changing ours as well. Unfortunately, ETS will not be releasing the new GRE scores until November, which means we won’t be able to publish our scholarship requirements until approximately December.  As soon as we have a better idea of how a 160 verbal (new test score) compares to a 600 verbal (old test score), we’ll be able to post our scholarship requirements.  In the mean time, send me an email if you have any questions about the application process at the Josef Korbel School.

Introducing the New GRE

Head’s up, the GRE test is changing this summer. The test will now have a score range of 130-170, in 1 point increments, for the verbal and quantitative section (versus the old format of 200-800). Unfortunately, we have yet to determine how this will impact our merit based scholarship program. All we know for certain is that it will. Here is how it impacts you:

  1. If you are applying to a graduate school that needs scores before November 1 then you should take the GRE before July 1. The Josef Korbel School has an application deadline of January 15th, so if you have yet to take the GRE, you may as well take the new one and save yourself some money since the GRE will be 50% off from August 1-September 30th.
  2. That Princeton Review Guide you bought a while back (you know, the one you’ve been meaning to open) might be outdated as the new GRE will have revised questions.

Everything you need to know about the new GRE can be found at the link above.

Good luck!
